My Sunday Blunder

Yesterday we enjoyed a nice quiet afternoon at home, then my father-in-law came over for dinner. After dinner, I had choir practice at the church. So I got in my car to go and as I starting backing down the driveway I felt a jolt and heard that sound...you know that sound, the awful one you hear when your car hits something? Just as I glanced into my rearview mirror, it was too late to prevent smacking into my father-in-law's beautiful car parked in our driveway. I was horrified, to say the least. We surveyed the damage, and I can't believe we really didn't find any. I guess the cars hit exactly bumper to bumper and they both held up. But I'm still a bit shaken up by it. Thankfully, I have the greatest father-in-law in the world and he didn't make me feel ridiculous or idiotic (I did that on my own).

I just thought I would share this so maybe you could all have a nice laugh today. Maybe in 10 years or so, I can look back and laugh too.

I don't think I could laugh at that. Just reading about it, I can hear the sound in my head....and having made that sound myself, it makes me feel all sick to my stomach again. That's the worst.

I did the same thing to my Dad's work car when I was in high school! Yes, the work car that belonged to the FBI!! He ended up being scheduled to get a new car that week, so it was all cool anyways!

Oh yes, and I did it also to my neighbor's car. Truth be told, I think it is my neighbor's fault for parking in the street (on our VERY narrow street) at the top of my driveway that is on a hill. It was not visible in my rear-view mirror because of the hill, and I was in a rush. We told him we would take care of the damages, but he never contacted us about them. It has been almost 2 years and he spends a lot of time out of the country, so I think we are off the hook.

Thankfully your crash did not cause any damage!

Hey Jennie--I just did that to my neighbor. 1,000 dollars to replace her door. Ouch! But I still jump if I hear a banging sound, that awful sound of car on car haunts me!
