Recently the Idea Room featured yet another great idea. It's a thumb guard made by Kid Giddy, to help little thumb suckers break their habit.
We have two thumb suckers in our home, and we thought this might be perfect to help our Camille, who has sucked her left thumb at night since she was 6 weeks old. I let her pick one out online, and we printed out a little chart for her. For the first week, she got a prize each night she kept it on without complaint. And she never complained, not once! After the first week, we started keeping track on her chart. And when it is all filled in we have plans to celebrate somehow.
We have been so proud of her doing it without hesitation, and she has been enjoying all the praise. Well, the other night we made an interesting discovery. Yes, she has done great not sucking her left thumb, but it's only because she has been sucking her right thumb!! So now I have an ambidextrous thumb sucker on my hands. I guess the joke is on us--we're the "suckers."

How funny, Jennie ... I think we would also have to buy two thumb guards to stop Zora from sucking her thumbs! She is devoted!
My giveaway on my blog ends tomorrow tonight (for this month) you'd still have time to enter and win a 2nd one for free! (and you've blogged about it - that counts too!)
My daughter only once tried sucking her pointer finger. She quickly realized it wasn't the same - and didn't do it again! The things they do will always surprise us! ; ) -kg
I love it! That's too funny. my mom would put that nasty stuff on my thumb but I would just put in a good hour of sucking off the taste. kids are funny.
